drysalter's brand is a range of products handmade by us, in the tradition of a drysalter. some of the preparations are new; many use recipes that have been used in the shop for decades. packaged in returnable deposit containers, predominantly glass bottles. bring your empties back!
floor shine
our floor shine is a blend of oils to bring out the best in unglazed terracotta and ceramic tiles.
scouring powder with bleach
classic scouring powder with bleach is a mildly abrasive cleaner with a chlorine based bleaching agent added. similar to the now discontinued ajax or vim powders many of our customers remember.
drain unblocker liquid
sinks, showers, basin and bath drains are often clogged or blocked by a build up of grease, soap residues and hair. our powerful drain unblocker gets to work to dissolve the nasties and get your waste pipes flowing freely ;again. no fancy perfumes or dyes: just simple drain unblocking wizadry.

our laundry bleach is a colour-safe powder formulation containing oxi-bleach, to gently remove stains. suitable for use as a stain pre-treatment or during the washing cycle in addition to laundry detergent.
household candles
we were inspired to produce our household candles after reading about the history of improvements made to candles during the victorian era.
newly available hard vegetable fats and chemical processes enabled new candles to be manufactured that performed like expensive beeswax products, but at prices that were affordable to people previously making do with the smoky, sputtering and low light provided by tallow candles. the new candles, which combined several waxes, were named 'composite', and were even used to celebrate queen victoria's wedding.
after careful research and painstaking experimentation, we have developed a candle suitable for general household use closely replicating the innovative composite candle that brought improved lighting to ordinary victorian homes,
